The Project
The Portable Wisdom project is an attempt to make genuine wisdom more easily and broadly accessible to people everywhere.
The project has four distinct products.
Data Format
This is an open data format for sharing of wisdom. Each individual insight is stored in a separate, portable XML file. A particular folder structure is defined for storage of a wisdom collection.
Categories
A taxonomy for wisdom is defined.
Software
iWisdom is a desktop software application for managing and publishing a wisdom collection. The software is written in Java, and runs on all major computing platforms.
Wisdom Collection
This site also houses a growing collection of wisdom, stored in the Portable Wisdom data format, maintained and published using iWisdom. The intent here is not to present an exhaustive collection of quotations or aphorisms, but an edited, focused collection representing a particular perspective and set of values.
